Upcycling plastic polystyrene waste into commercial products

liu

Guoliang "Greg" Liu in the College of Science has developed a formula to upcycle polystyrene, a commonly used packaging material for food, electronics, and furniture. By converting these "hard-to-recycle" materials into liquid chemicals and upcycling them into high-value chemicals, they can now be used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and fragrance industries.
